The dungeon itself is in some ways the weakest part of Persona 3 Reload. While the enemy design has that funhouse-mirror feel unique to this series, Tartarus is repetitive: Climb a floor. Bash the new breakables and open the chests (including new locked ones that take Twilight Shards you collect in the daytime world.
These everyday activities might sound very mundane, but each one improves your abilities in battle by raising your character's social stats. Higher stats also unlock even more things around the Island for you to do, which creates a satisfying loop.

If you’re looking for non-stop action you won’t find it in Persona 3 Reload. While exploring the game’s procedural-generated tower known as Tartarus does inject some momentum, battles are focused on strategy rather than quick reaction times, and the game’s visual-novel-style narrative takes priority for large periods.
UI improvements come thanks to the remake's new game engine: running up to things Persona 3 Reload Gameplay in the world is a much easier and more active way to interact than nudging around a blue blob on screen like in Persona 3 Portable. 3 Reload flowed as smoothly as the Chairman's puns on my testing PC (specs below).
Characters' melee attacks have been customized to have variety in amount of hits and the power each blow can deal. All melee attacks are divided in 3 stages, and the final attack in the final stage always deals a Critical hit.
During the story there will be a time where Junpei falls for another character who suffers an unfortunate demise. Before she dies however you're able to lay down the groundwork for her to be revived. There is pelo in-game benefit to her being revived, nor is there an achievement or trophy attached to it.
Be sure to come into these post-game fights with your best Personas and gear in addition to the party being at a considerably high level.
Persona 3 Portable, released in 2011, was scaled back to fit the PSP and removed P3's anime cutscenes, 3D environments and The Answer. But it introduced big gameplay changes, including a female protagonist with her own social links and full control of your party in battle.
